About Us

A Love Letter to
South Central

South Central LA Clips was born from a simple belief: every community deserves to have its story told — on its own terms.

The Story Behind the Lens

Founded by two South Central artists and creatives — Marvin Valencia and Erick Solis — SCLA Clips started as a passion project rooted in deep love for a neighborhood that is constantly talked about, but rarely heard from.

Through TikTok, Instagram, and a growing digital archive, they began documenting what the mainstream media overlooks: the beauty of block parties, the resilience of small business owners, the artistry in murals, the warmth of community bonds, and the everyday magic of South Central life.

What started as social content quickly became something larger — a cultural institution in the making. A living library. A movement that says: we exist, we matter, and we're going to document it ourselves.

Mission & Values

Identity & Pride

We provide South Central residents with a sense of identity and pride by amplifying stories that are authentic to the community — not filtered through outside perspectives.

Visibility & Representation

Our audience feels seen. When someone from South Central watches our content, they recognize themselves — their street, their culture, their people. That recognition is powerful.

Economic Access

We serve as both a media platform and a community development tool — driving economic visibility and access to opportunity in neighborhoods that are often overlooked.

Our Vision

Beyond Social Media — A Physical Space for South Central Stories

SCLA Clips is not just a content page. It's a platform in the truest sense — and it's growing. Our vision extends beyond digital media into creating a physical space where South Central community members can tell their stories through art, film, and community programming.

Our merchandise line — available at 9Hundred11 — is at the forefront of a cultural shift: wearing South Central identity with pride. Each piece is a statement. A declaration that South Central isn't just a place — it's a legacy.

Open for Collaboration

We actively seek partnerships and collaborations that highlight and uplift underrepresented communities. Whether you're a brand, a nonprofit, a fellow artist, or a grant-making institution — we want to hear from you.
